Read and understand any trusts

As with a will, the language in a trust can be complicated. Use our glossary to help understand commonly used terms, as you’ll want to truly understand what you read in a trust document and grasp all key terms within it.

In the cases of trusts, it is fair to assume that an attorney (and probably an accountant) was engaged to help create the trust. You’ll want to reach out to those professionals and engage them if you have any questions whatsoever during this process. If you have already engaged an estate attorney and/or an accountant, they also can assist you in the interpretation of these documents as many are similar in terms of format and language.
