Part of: Determine and Pay Debts of the Estate, Including Taxes
Generally in conjunction with the decedent’s accountant, the executor should file the appropriate tax return for the estate. This tax return usually has a deadline to be filed nine months after the death, though, by working with the estate’s accountant, you may apply for an extension before that deadline approaches. To get everything you need for the estate tax return, you should work closely with the estate’s accountant.
