Notify Post Office

As executor, you are responsible for receiving and taking care of the mail sent to the deceased. You, therefore, need to have the mail forwarded to your address. You should take a copy of the death certificate and letters of testamentary with you to the post office in case you need it. There is also a way to set up the mail forwarding online.

As you close accounts, cancel subscriptions and generally move forward with the administration of the estate, the mail you receive will dwindle. Remember that administration of estate can take longer than the 12 month forwarding period, though. Therefore, you might want to notify applicable people and organizations of your address so they can send items directly to you instead of having to rely on mail forwarding.
