It is a good idea for an executor to read the will with the person who wrote it in order to understand the writer’s wishes. It is possible that the person asks you to serve as executor has not yet written the will, but anticipates doing so soon.

If there are any sections of the will that you believe may need clarification, work to understand the will writer’s intent and encourage them to document his or her wishes more clearly.
