Find a reputable firm to value the assets

Some firms will both appraise and sell the deceased’s assets (typically auctioneers or estate sales firms). Others will, for a fee, simply create an asset list and assign market values to each item on it. Either way, for a reasonable fee, you should be able to find a firm that can value the personal property in one to two weeks. If there is extensive jewelry or antiques within the estate, you might want to consider hiring a specialist in one of those fields to do that appraisal work. You’ll spend a bit more to do so, but you will likely get a more accurate estimate of these items, which are often of high value.
