There also are memberships that should be cancelled as soon as possible. For example, many people are members of clubs or other dues-paying organizations. Everything from golf club and hunting lodge memberships to alumni association and the AARP memberships need to be cancelled. When you cancel these memberships, be sure to ask if it is their policy to refund unused portions of payments or dues.
