Plan the funeral

If the will writer, also known as the testator, who appointed you as executor is comfortable doing so, it is good to discuss his or her wishes for the funeral service and related items. The will writer might want to involve family or religious leaders in the preparation of the plans.

Funeral instructions should not be kept in a safe deposit box because an executor cannot access the safe deposit of a deceased person until he or she receives official court documentation of the role of executor, such as letters of testamentary.
