Task 8 of 15

Notify credit card companies

Part of: Notify Relevant Organizations of the Death

It is important to notify credit card companies of the death in order to obtain final bills and close accounts. It also is important so that no further charges on the accounts can be made to protect against fraud and identify theft.

Remember to look for any automatic payments made on a credit card. You can determine this by checking old statements or by contacting the credit card company. If you find automatic payments, you will want to be sure to stop them. Any payments to be made on behalf of the estate must come from the estate, not the credit cards of the deceased.
