Consider donation of clothing in good condition

You might want to discuss with beneficiaries the possibility of donating clothing that is in good condition. There are many charities which will get the clothing into the hands of people who can benefit from it. The estate will receive a small tax deduction for doing so (used clothing does not carry a high value) and in many cases, you can choose a charity that was special to the deceased. This allows you to make a positive difference in a way that will have very little negative impact on the value of the estate. Used clothing sells very poorly, in general, at estate auctions (unless it is a fur coat, etc).
